The National OCF recently made two announcements that directly affect our local volunteer efforts:
- The OCF is moving their headquarters from New Haven to Boston at the end of 2007.
- The OCF 15th Annual Conference will be held at the Renaissance Waterfront Hotel in Boston, MA from August 1-3, 2008.
If you are interested in volunteering in the OCF office during the transition or at the 2008 conference, please contact Denise Egan Stack at deganstack@mclean.harvard.edu to be added to the volunteer list.
VOLUNTEER
The OCF of Greater Boston is looking for volunteers to help run its activities. We do not have any paid staff, so no matter how much time or energy you have to spare, we can use your help. here are the activiites that we need help with:
- Lecture Series
- Web Site
- Resource Center/Library
- Securing Grants
- Support Groups
- Publicity for our events
- Mailings
- Social Gatherings
We are also looking for people to serve as officers or members of our board of directors. As a member fo our board, you would be helping to set the direction for our organization. Whatever your experience is with OCD - as a patient/comsumer, friend, family member, or professional - you have valuable input that we can use. Even if you cannot make the commitment to serve on our board, please consider showing up at any of our monthly board meetings.
If there is a project you are interested in that you do not see above, please let us know. We are always interested in new projects, as long as we have enough volunteers to work on them. Projects that we are interested in starting include fundraising; increasing the number of support groups; and education and outreach through the media. In the past, we have run conferences on OCD for teachers and other school personnel, and we are interested in having more of these conferences in the future.
To become a volunteer, please contact our president, Denise Egan Stack, at 617-855-2252 or deganstack@mclean.harvard.edu.
